BLOG TOUR & REVIEW ~~ CLUTCH (THE DISCIPLES' DAUGHTERS SERIES) BY DREW ELYSE @ArdentPRose

Once a Disciple, forever a Disciple.

Cami was born into the Savage Disciples MC, but she ventured out to build a life of her own away from the club. She’s engaged now, living a new life despite missing the bikers that raised her. Overall, she’s… fine.
Sure, fine. She’s fine with the fiancĂ© who is more interested in position and image than the woman in his life. She’s fine with the fake people around and the suffocating passive aggression. She’s fine with the fact that she is turning to drugs to self-medicate.

A Disciple will fight like a savage for what he wants.

When Gauge tags along to visit his club brother’s daughter, he can’t believe the two women he meets: the fiery daughter of a biker and the puppet with the blank affect. And yet, they’re both Cami.
He sees the fire beneath surface, and he wants to watch it burn. He wants to rip away the man smothering her like a wet blanket. He wants to see the flames consume that cookie-cutter future-wife facade to the ground and dance with her in the flames.

When this biker clutches onto a Disciple’s daughter, there is no letting go.

VIDA'S REVIEW

From the first page to the last this book will have you in its CLUTCHES! When you first meet Cami you meet a woman who is not living a full life she's trapped with a man who wishes for perfection and not the daughter of a Savage Disciples MC. We caught glimpses of the real Cami whenever she talked with her father but she never fully emerges until she meets the gorgeous, giving it to you straight with no chaser Gauge. He's everything your mother warned you about and more and one look at Cami and he was hooked. This was my first book by Drew Elyse and definitely won't be my last. I loved the characters and the fact that even though the chemistry was there between them from their first meeting they slowly developed as friends but when these two finally come together they set the sheets on fire. This book will most assuredly leave you intrigued and since we got a hint about who the next book is about I can hardly wait for more Disciples' Daughters.

Drew Elyse spends her days trying to convince the world that she is, in fact, a Disney Princess, and her nights writing tear-jerking and smutty romance novels. Her debut novel, Dissonance, released in August of 2014.

When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found over-analyzing every line of a book, binge watching a series on Netflix, doing strange vocal warm ups before singing a variety of music styles, or screaming at the TV during a Chicago Blackhawks game.

A graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a BA in English, she still lives in Chicago, IL where she was born and raised with her boyfriend and her prima donna pet rabbit, Lola.

Synopsis

Once a Disciple, forever a Disciple.
After the death of her father, Ash learned an important lesson: being a Disciple is dangerous. The club her father had loved, the club that had been their family, took him from her. She couldn’t stay and wait for the day it would take the man she loved from her, too. So, she left. Now, she’s the one in danger, and the Disciples are the only ones that can keep her safe. She has no choice but to return to the club and the man she left behind. A Disciple will fight like a savage for what is his. Sketch has what he needs: his tattooing, the club, and his bike. Anything else would require a heart, and his was ripped out of his chest a long time ago. It wasn’t coming back. At least, not until she did. His heart isn’t the only thing Ash brings with her, though. She has a daughter. A daughter old enough to be his. A daughter Ash claims might not be. But in his heart, Sketch knows the truth. That little girl is his… just like her mom. This biker knows one thing: a Disciple’s daughter’s return is about to make his whole world shift.

Prologue

Gabe

“You can’t be serious.”
I said the words, but looking at the girl in front of me, I could tell she was. My Ash was reserved. Her emotions were always hiding beneath the surface. They broke through only sometimes.
In that moment, her desperation wasn’t hidden at all.
“It’s dangerous,” she insisted.
I tried to stay calm, to reason with her. “Ash, babe, just last week you were as excited as I was about me getting a prospect patch. I’ve always wanted to be a Disciple, and it was what you wanted, too.”
“That was before they killed my dad!”
Fuck.
Her head was totally fucked over this.
“You know they didn’t. They’re mourning Indian as much as I am, as much as you are. He died, and it’s fucking terrible, but you know any of those men would give their own life to bring him back to you. If you just calm down, you know it’s true.”
Tears fell from her blue eyes—eyes that had been stained red for over a week. Nothing made a man feel more fucking impotent than watching his woman cry constantly and not being able to do a damn thing about it. I hadn’t lied; any of the Savage Disciples MC men would give up their lives in an instant to bring their fallen brother back, to give Ash back her dad. I would take a bullet right then and there just to make her stop hurting.
“They might not have meant for him to die, but it’s their fault. The fucking club is the reason he’s gone!” She went right on working herself up.
In that moment, I wanted to be able to rewind more than I could put in to words. Just over a week before, we were happy. Everything was good. Fuck, everything was going exactly as it should.
I’d been made a prospect for the club, the first step to my fucking life-long dream of being a member. My uncle, Gunner, put the cut on me himself. It was everything I’d wanted since I could remember, since the first time Gunner brought me around the club as a kid.
The first thing I did? I went to Ash.
My girl, the daughter of a Disciple, grew up with the club. The brothers were her family, just like they were mine. Since I was six years old and I first met her, she’d known having that patch was all I wanted. Fourteen years later, it was real.
Ash was fucking thrilled. My firefly beamed as bright as I’d ever seen her. She’d thrown herself into my arms. She couldn’t stop looking at the cut on my shoulders, the visual proof it was really happening. At least, she couldn’t stop looking until I got her to take it off me so we could really get to celebrating.
But that night, with Ash curled up next to me in my bed, my cell rang. The first bad sign was the three a.m. call. The second was the way Gunner greeted me.
“Is Ash with you?”
I didn’t know why he would need to ask that. Ash was nearly always with me. Indian might not have liked it, but his daughter was eighteen. And anyway, she’d been staying the night with me on occasion even before that. So yeah, if she weren’t at home with Indian, she was in my bed.
I hadn’t expected him to be asking because there was no way for Indian to tell them she wasn’t home.
I hadn’t expected that I would need to wake my girl in the middle of the night.
I hadn’t expected that it would fall on me to tell her her only family member was gone.
I did, however, expect the way Ash had fallen apart at the news. I was even prepared for the fact that she wouldn’t bounce back from it right away. Moving forward was going to be a long road for her, I knew that.
Still, I never could have guessed she’d even think the things she was saying to me.
“So what, Ash? You want me to leave the club? Give up being a prospect and just take off?” She couldn’t mean that.
“Yes.” Not even a moment’s hesitation.
“The club is family.”
“I know your uncle is—”
“No. Ash, the club is family. All of them, not just my uncle. The brothers are our family.”
She looked at me and something about her eyes scared the shit out of me. “No. I don’t have a family anymore.”
Fuck. It was so much worse than I thought.
“Baby, the brothers are still your family. They helped raise you. Can you honestly say Roadrunner, Tank, Gunner, Stone—none of those men are your family? They love you.”
Her tears came harder, but there was no surrender in her. “It doesn’t matter. I can’t stay here and wait for the club to take anyone else from me.” A sob rocked her before she could say, “I can’t stay here and wait until it takes you.”
I tried to give her distance. I tried to stand across the room from her like she’d asked so she could talk, but I wasn’t doing that shit anymore. The second I had my arms around her, her face burrowed into my chest and she sobbed. It was a position we’d become all too familiar with.
“Firefly, listen to me,” I said into her hair, “I know you’re hurting, but this isn’t right. I can’t leave the club. I won’t. Once this pain isn’t so fresh, you won’t want to either. We’ll get through this, babe. Just hold onto me.”
She didn’t say anything. She didn’t argue any more. I got her into bed thinking I talked her off the ledge. She was staying. We were staying right where we were supposed to be.
I woke in the morning to find out I was very, very wrong.

VIDA'S REVIEW

As a fan of the The Disciples' Daughters series, for me this book was highly anticipated and it lived up to my expectations. This is Ash and Sketch's story. Ash father was a member of the Disciples unfortunately he lost his life and in this book we find out why. Once he passed Ash who has been with Sketch in my eyes since they first met when they was younger, decides that the club already took her dad she can't stand around and let them take the man she loves so she leaves. Sketch has never got over the heartache that came from losing Ash but once she arrives back in town he's a goner, hook, line and sinker. This story pulls you in and grab your attention from the first page until the last and the ending just leaves you begging for more. Trust and believes that this series will have you anxiously anticipating the next. It's emotionally addicting and very emotional full of angst, stellar chemistry and a storyline that draws you in. I'm so looking forward to the next in the suspenseful series.

Excerpt

Gabe
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
Emmaline—Emmy, was Ash’s daughter. Ash had a fucking daughter. Ash…
“Three, but my birthday is real soon.” Emmy had to me.
Ash had a three-nearly-four-year-old daughter.
Ash left me almost five years ago.
I’d stopped doing the math on it, stopped tracking how long it had been since she had left me. I did the math then, though. Four years, seven months. Emmy was nearly four, plus nine months of pregnancy.
Fuck.
No.
She wouldn’t.
I tore out of the kitchen and flew through the hallway where I’d found Emmy, past the stairs, and out to the back deck.
Ash was there, standing in the middle of the yard, facing away from me. She looked different, the silhouette of her body more curved than I remembered and her curly blonde hair falling farther down her back. Still, I would have known it was her anywhere.
All around and in front of her, little sparks of light flashed and died away. Fireflies. She was watching them flicker around the yard.
Indian had called Ash firefly since before I knew her. He used to say it was because her smiles weren’t constant given how introverted she was, but when one came out, it was like a light shining out of her.
He wasn’t exaggerating. Not one fucking bit.
For a moment, the image of her transfixed me. I wanted to break out my sketchpad and commit the sight to paper so I would never lose it. I wanted to ink it into my own skin so it would always be with me.
Then, I remembered Emmy.
The rage returned, burning underneath my skin. Storming across the yard, I clenched my hands at my sides. I couldn’t touch her. I couldn’t be responsible for what might happen if I did.
Just as I got close, Ash looked over her shoulder at me and jumped at the sight. Whether that was because I was not who she was expecting or my fury was clear on my face, I didn’t know. Didn’t really fucking care.
“Is she mine?” I demanded.
“What?”
My heart was beating triple time in my chest. The shock to my system at seeing Ash’s beautiful face again was almost enough to break through the cloud of anger, but not quite.
“Emmy,” I explained. “Is. She. Mine?”
Ash went pale. “How did you—”
“She was out in the hall. Woke up and needed a drink. Funny thing is, she says she’s about to turn four. It’s been just about nine months more than that since you left. So, I’ll ask one last time. Is she my fucking daughter?” I roared.
Ash shrunk back, and answered in a small voice, “I don’t know.”
She…what? “You don’t know?”
Her eyes fell to the ground. “I would have told you if I knew for sure.”
She would have…
Holy. Fuck.
No. Not possible.
A ringing in my ears filled the silence in the yard. Emmy might not be mine. Ash didn’t know for sure who the father was. Ash…Ash slept with someone else. But the timeline…
She fucked someone else right after she left me.
I spent months—fuck, over a year—doing nothing but missing her, trying to find her. I didn’t touch another fucking woman until Ash had been gone for over eighteen months. But she…fuck.
How long did she even wait before letting some other guy in where only I had been?
A week? Two? Couldn’t have been that long if he might be Emmy’s father.
Fuck.
Ash still wasn’t looking at me and that was a really fucking good thing. I couldn’t see her face. Couldn’t see those eyes.
Without another fucking word, I left. I couldn’t be anywhere near her. I couldn’t handle the blow she just dealt.

Excerpt

My feet carried me right to her door. I had the clarity of mind to knock instead of barging in, but I was about to lose patience when the door opened. There, in an oversized Disciple’s supporter tee she’d worn to bed for years, her eyes slightly reddened from tears, was my Ash. Mine. “Go away, Sketch.” Not a fucking chance. I backed her into the room. She fought it until I muscled my way passed the door frame. Then, she threw up an arm and turned her back to me, walking away to put space between us. I shut the door and silently flipped the flimsy lock on the knob for good measure. “What do you want?” she snapped. “I didn’t fuck her.” That affected her. I saw the way her body locked up for a moment before she could hide it. “Good for you.” “Ash,” I called. “I don’t care if you fucked some slut.” “I didn’t recognize her, not ’til Cami said something. But I didn’t fuck her anyway.” “Sketch, just get out. I don’t care.” She could throw attitude all she wanted. I wasn’t going anywhere. “If I’d realized who she was, I wouldn’t have fucking touched her at all. I would have thrown her ass out.” Ash didn’t even respond that time. She just turned to glare at me, her arms crossed and her hip popped out just slightly. She was a work of fucking art. “Doesn’t matter, though. I threw her ass out once I realized I couldn’t fuck her. Didn’t matter that I had no idea who she was.” Still nothing from Ash, so I went on. “I couldn’t fuck her, firefly. I couldn’t have her when she wasn’t you.” That got through. I watched the nickname her dad had given her as a little girl cause the crack, and my confession impart the shattering blow. Her first retaliation was anger. “You expect me to believe you haven’t fucked any club sluts since I’ve been gone? Are you kidding me?” Call me a pervert, but her anger always did something to me. Ash didn’t get angry easily. She wasn’t one to show that kind of emotion often. When I got it, it always got to me. Probably because I knew I was the only person she would blow up at like that. “No. I didn’t say that. I’ve fucked other women. You were gone, and eventually I had to accept that. Now, you’re not gone. You’re right fucking here, and I won’t settle for anything else anymore.” “I—” she stuttered. “What are you saying?” I moved across the room, not containing my grin when she backed into the wall, trapping herself. I got right up against her, feeling her tits press against me, loving the slight tremble that I knew wasn’t fear moving through her, glorying in the way she jerked from my hard on only to subtly press back against it. “I’m saying,” I answered, leaning down so my mouth was right at her ear, running my tongue along the shell, “that you’re mine.”

Cami

I finally retrieved my phone to charge it for the night. I could not say what possessed me to do it, but I found myself opening my contacts and scrolling down to Gauge’s name. Only, I did not find it. It took me a few minutes to realize there were no new entries in my contacts at all. But there was a text to an unsaved number. Gauge had sent himself a message from my phone. I went to save the number, pausing when I saw what he sent.
Me: Gauge, you are so fucking sexy. I want your huge cock.
I did not know whether to laugh or roll my eyes. The man seriously needed to be taken down a peg or two. With that thought, I sent him a text of my own.
Me: Keep dreaming.
I meant to tease him, yet, once I finally drifted off, I was the one who dreamed about Gauge and all the illicit things he could do to me.

Gauge

Cami: Have you ever had sex on your bike?
Jesus. Fuck. That damn woman was going to be the fuckin’ death of me. It had been three weeks since the day I met her, and I’d talked to her almost every day since.
When I gave her my number, I honestly hadn’t thought I’d ever hear a damn word from her. I’d already been prepared to let that shit go. She was engaged—albeit to a total fuckwit—and unhappy or not, she didn’t seem like she was in a hurry to change that. I figured the next time I heard anything about her would be from Tank mentioning something. Then, I’d gotten a text from her that same evening in response to the one I’d sent myself from her phone. Even then, I’d anticipated the line of communication going dark real fast. Still, I’d taken advantage of the door she opened.
Me: I will, babe.
She hadn’t responded that evening, and I’d planned on taking cues from her, so it was a serious fuckin’ surprise when my phone went off the next day with a text from her.
Cami: Any club girls thanking you this morning?
She was flirting with me. Shit, she was playing with fire. Somehow, I knew I was the one who would get burned if I played her game, but I couldn’t find it in me to care.
Me: Nah. Just me thanking my hand.
Cami: Disappointing.
Me: You want me fucking the patch whores?
Cami: No. I meant for you.
Me: Trust me, you didn’t fucking disappoint.
Cami: Me?
Me: Told you I’d be dreaming about you.
Cami: You’re disgusting. And I am oddly flattered.
Me: You should be.
That was how it unfolded, day in and day out. Sometimes the conversations were harmless. That first day, we eventually switched gears and talked music for a while. Other days, we talked about movies, bikes, random things that happened during the day. I was really getting to know her. It was normal, more normal than anything I’d ever known. Then, one of us would blow that all to hell.
It would be simple, sometimes just one fuckin’ text.
Cami: I hate having a housekeeper. It makes me seriously uncomfortable that she cleans and sorts my panties.
I could claim I tried to be good when she sent that one, but that’d be a damn lie. First thing I did was picture what sort of panties Cami had—I figured lace, skimpy but nothing like the pussy ‘round the club wore. Hers would be classy shit. Picturing that ass of hers in lace, my dick got hard real fast. Before I could fuckin’ consider whether I was making a big mistake, the fucker was out and in my hand as I texted her back.
Me: What kind of panties?
Cami: Wouldn’t you like to know.
Me: Fuck yes I would.
There wasn’t an immediate response, but I didn’t need one. Just the image my mind conjured up of her in lace, moving the material aside so I could fuck her while the little panties stayed on, had me close to blowing my fucking load. Her teasing only pushed me closer. Then, my phone went off again.
A picture. She sent me a fuckin’ picture of a pair of red lace panties laid out on top of what appeared to be a fuckin’ drawer full of similar folded pairs in different colors. I shot off in my hand at the sight. It was not the last time I called that picture up either.
I felt like a pubescent fuck who recently discovered the joy of coming. I hadn’t masturbated so much since I was a teenager, but fuck if I could stop. One flirty text from her, one thought of that picture, or any of the mental images I cooked up, and I was bringing myself there again. I told myself more times than I could count that I could grab one of the girls and have her help with the problem, but none of them held any appeal. I didn’t want just any warm pussy to sink into, I wanted fire. I wanted a girl who had me aching before I even touched her.
I wanted Cami.
The moment at hand had me dreaming up a whole new set of images. Had I ever had sex on my bike?
Me: No. Never had a woman on my bike.
Though, that seemed like something that needed rectifying.
Cami: Like, at all? Or sexually speaking?
Me: At all.
Cami: Seriously?
Me: Ain’t puttin’ random pussy on my bike.
With the exception of my mom—who would “never, ever do it”—or a woman I at least planned to make my old lady, no chick was getting on my baby. I’d give her a ride on my bike, though. Whatever kind she wanted.
Of course, Cami was the type of woman I would seriously consider making my old lady.

Speaking of Tank, he and the rest of the boys would be back within the hour, which meant there was probably going to be a reasonable amount of awkward around the clubhouse for a while. Sure, I’d gotten the man’s permission to go after his daughter, but approving the concept and seeing the result weren’t exactly the same thing.
“Hey, baby. What are you doing?”
Speak of the devil. Cami strode into the main area of the clubhouse in a pair of tiny cut-off shorts and the Disciples’ Supporter tank she’d been wearing when I got back from Sturgis. Damn, she looked fucking good. So good, I wanted to drag her back into my room, strip everything but that tank top off, and take her. She moved to sit next to me on the couch, but I reached out and grabbed her hips to settle her onto my lap.
“Love this shirt, babe. We’ll have to get you some more,” I told her.
She leaned in and pressed a kiss to my lips while I stroked her exposed thighs. “Glad you like it,” she said, but I muffled the end of it when I chased after her sweet lips.
“You two oughta knock that shit off before Tank gets back,” Daz warned as he sat on one of the nearby couches.
I flipped him my middle finger, trying to hold Cami still as she pulled away. “You aren’t going anywhere,” I growled. Then, I looked around her. “As for you, asshole, she’s my old lady. I can do as I fuckin’ want.”
“All you fuckers with your old ladies. Why shackle yourself when there’s so much sweet pussy out there?” Daz kicked back and grinned like he was imagining some of that pussy getting busy with him right there.
“I’ll ignore the inherent insult in that,” Cami sassed.
“No insult meant, Cam,” he shot back. “I’d gladly see how sweet you are, but I ain’t gonna keep sampling the same dish when there’s a whole buffet in front of me.”
I grabbed the nearest non-fragile item—a pillow from the end of the couch—and chucked it at him. “You talk about my woman’s pussy again, I’ll fuckin’ make you wish you were back in lockup.”
“And that,” Daz kept right on. “You spend too much time with the same pussy, you start to turn into one.”
I was about to shuffle Cami off my lap and show him just how much of a pussy I was when she spoke. “Hey, Daz?”
“What, babe?”
“When’s the last time you got laid?”
“Cami,” I interjected. I wasn’t liking where this conversation was headed. She shushed me.
“Last night,” he answered.
“Hmm,” she got a look on her face, like she was pondering. “Not bad. Gauge, baby, when’s the last time you got laid?”
I smirked. “You know the answer to that, darlin’.”
“You’re right.” She snapped her fingers like she just realized it, and I suppressed a chuckle. My woman was a goof ball, and it was fucking adorable. “It was this morning. Once when we woke up, and then again in the shower. Not to mention, everything last night. Wow. So, since the last time Daz got laid, we’ve probably had sex…what? Four, maybe five times?”
Daz laughed and shook his head. “Your woman’s a fucking smart ass.”
“Don’t I know it.”
Cami feigned being affronted. “I was simply trying to consider the validity of Daz’s argument,” she snapped.
“Were you on the debate team in high school?” I asked.
“No,” she stated emphatically, then backtracked, “not for long, anyway.”
“Oh?”
“I might have been asked to quit because of my ‘over-competitiveness’, ‘short temper’, and ‘inability to allow others to finish their arguments’. I mean, excuse me for not wanting to lose because Jerry Simmons’ talking points were always terrible and unsubstantiated. There was a reason he didn’t get into law school.”
Daz and I laughed before he said, “Don’t worry, you can start any spirited debate you want. I’ve got another we can tackle. Anal or vagin—”
“Alright, brother, you’re fuckin’ done,” I cut him off.
“Buzzkill,” he muttered, getting to his feet. “That’s alright. I’m going to find one of the girls and get her to make me a sandwich.”
“Seriously?” Cami called at his retreating back.
“Hey, I’m all about feminism. Especially a woman’s right to choose whatever lifestyle she wants. Particularly if that lifestyle involves her making me a fucking sandwich,” he shot back as he left.
“So you know,” Cami started, but I jumped in.
“You aren’t going to make me a sandwich on command?”
“Nope. I cook. I’ll make you pancakes, cupcakes—”
“Anything that’s not a cake?”
She gave me a glare. “I can cook most things relatively well. But if you want a sandwich, I think you’re solidly capable of that on your own.”
“Guess I’ll be cutting sandwiches out of my diet.”
She rolled her eyes. “Asshole.”
