This book will gut you from beginning to end, you're drawn into the story of two damaged souls known as Tyler and Holly. Holly is a young woman who went through something very traumatic and once free its a little hard for her to accept society and not revert back to the place she was. Tyler demons are totally different he's punishing himself for an act that could have happened whether he knows it or not, but it leaves them both feeling as if no one understands them but the other. This is truly a love story where the characters are absolutely perfect for one another, they accept each other past, flaws and scars because they know without them they wouldn't be the person that they are destined to be and for that I'm grateful. This story is touching, wonderfully written and beautifully told. If you're a reader who's looking for a book that will stay with you long after the end then pick this book up it is well worth the read.

Kenzi one day old

Toren fifteen years old

“We want you to be her Godfather,” Asher says as he gently lays his newborn baby into my arms. I have to tear my gaze away from her spellbinding eyes to look up at him from the chair I’m cradling the baby in.

“Me?” I repeat, glancing over at Ember in the hospital bed, who beams back at me with a tired, yet genuine smile.

“Yes, you,” they both say at the same time. “If it wasn’t for you, we probably never would have met,” Ember adds, grabbing Asher’s hand. “And we wouldn’t have this beautiful little baby. We know you’ll always protect her.”

“That’s right, man. You’re Uncle Tor now.”

I’m an uncle. And my two best friends are parents. And we’re all fuckin’ under sixteen.

But Kenzi Allyster Valentine would change us all forever. She needed us.

“Wow. I’m honored, guys. No doubt, I’ll always be here for her.”

I kick back the pang that hits my stomach. I didn’t get the girl…but I got something better that I never expected. Not too sure what I just read but I must admit that I devoured it and loved it. Carian has wrapped you up in a complex situation that you don't know how to take will they or won't they. Tor is a man with a tortured soul because he's now looking at a girl he raised as a woman who might have been made especially for him. Kenzi is a young woman beyond her years but has always had a constant in her life and that's Tor who has been there since she was born. Tor and Kenzie relationship spans years and to now turn into something more is frightening for the both of them unfortunately it can not be denied. This story is so intense that it leaves you with goosebumps because on the one hand you're wanting them together but on the the other you're wondering how will everyone perceive them. This book will leave you speechless and so grateful to have read it, I have never been so pleasantly surprised in my life. If you looking for a book that grips you as you constantly turn the pages then pick this up its well worth the read.
